Wiki

Matt Grice Wiki

Matt Grice was a 4 time Oklahoma State wrestling champ from Harrah High School as well as winning outstanding wrestler 3 times. He would attend the University of Oklahoma but was redshirted 2000-01 for an elbow injury and then again in 2001-02 for injuries sustained in a car accident. Grice would go on to graduate with a Bachelor's degree in sociology.

After college Grice began training MMA and would pick up 9 straight wins before the UFC took notice. He would drop his debut to Terry Etim but bounce back with a win over Jason Black in the fight of the night for UFC 77. After the fight with Black though Grice decided to take some time off so he could graduate from the Oklahoma City Police Department Academy. He would return in 2009 but drop 2 straight fights for the UFC forcing him to be cut from the promotion.

Grice would rattle off four wins for other promotions prompting a return to the UFC. He would have mixed results again with a loss to Ricardo Lamas a win over Leonard Garcia and a loss in a very entertaining fight of the night performance to Dennis Bermudez. He was then set to face Jeremy Larsen at UFC 166 however he was involved in a horrible car accident in his hometown of Oklahoma and was forced out of the bout. He had a very serious brain injury and was in a coma for a month. He is still recovering from his ordeal but has not ruled out a return to fighting.
